Happy Monday! I had a jam packed weekend and am currently on my 2nd cup of coffee lol. We celebrated my boyfriend’s big 3 – 0 over the weekend so I wanted to share everything I did to make it the best it could possibly be during these crazy times! Last year I threw him a surprise birthday party at Houston Axe Throwing and it was a blast! To be honest, I started thinking about what I wanted to do for his 30th birthday the second his 29th birthday was over (LOL I’m crazy I know but I love planning things)! So you can see how 2020 really threw a wrench into my plans. I knew whatever I decided to do had to be special because you only turn 30 once (plus he went all out for my 30th so I had to live up to it – future blog post soon). It’s been 5 months since Texas was in full lock down and although places are open and people are gathering, I could not justify the safety of others just for a party. Also 5 months ago, birthday zoom calls and driveby’s were so exciting but now not so much. I knew I had to think outside of the box and I found a few ways to make his 30th extra special! Keep reading for some 30th birthday inspo for him!
The Presents
Finding a gift for someone who has everything is quite impossible. I went to Pinterest to find some inspo and eventually decided it would be fun to get him 30 presents for his 30th birthday. Two important things to note. First one is obvious, don’t wait until 2 weeks before a birthday to do this! I’m a certified procrastinator and most of the things I wanted to buy were online which forced me to pay extra for shipping which could have been totally avoidable! Second, doing this can get pretty pricey! I’ll admit, I started writing a list of 30 potential presents and once I got to 15 I was stumped LOL. I contemplated buying his groceries and wrapping them up at one point because this was so hard for me. I feel like this would have been easier if the recipient was female, but never-the-less I was half way there. I tried googling for help, but wasn’t successful hence this blog post! Hopefully this post will give you inspiration if you try to do this one day!
Here are all the items that I bought. These presents ranged from favorite snacks, clothes, gag gifts and things I knew he needed!

The Party
If you live in Houston and are looking to host a small party during the COVID pandemic (or even when things “go back to normal”), make sure to check out Eado Big Boy Toy Rentals (you can read all about them here). They have 10 3-wheelers available to rent by the hour, allowing each person to ride their own vehicle and staying socially distant at the same time. I decided to rent out all 10 vehicles for a small birthday party for Keeyan and some of his boys! I also got super lucky when I booked last minute! Since I didn’t get to go myself, I was told it was a super fun 2 hours of riding around East Downtown, Downtown, Midtown and checking out a few Houston’s murals and sites!
All in all it was a successful 30th birthday weekend regardless of these weird times of not being able to throw an actual party. I hope this post provides you with some future 3oth birthday inspo for him (or her)! Did you throw a unique party during quarantine for a big milestone birthday? Let me know in the comments below on how you celebrated!
