Hi Friends! This past weekend I went glamping in Texas Hill Country which is around 50 minutes outside of Austin! It was the perfect mini getaway that allowed me to unplug, relax and rewind. If you live in Texas and are looking for a place to glamp, look no further – Yurtopia is your place. A lot of Instagram friends had some questions so heres everything you need to know!
What is Yurtopia?
Yurtopia is a fabulous glamping site in Texas Hill Country that has 6 yurts. What is a yurt you ask? A yurt or ger (in mongolian) is a round covered tent with a wooden structure and door frame. Yurtopia has 3 Hilltop yurts that are available for 1-2 people and no pets. The 3 Riverbluff yurts are available for 6 people or 3 couples max. Each yurt is equipped with an AC/Heater and a king sized bed. Also, the sheets will have you thinking you are staying at a five star hotel! Prices vary depending on weekdays and weekends. If you do decided to book the Riverbluff yurt on a weekeday in 2020, make sure to use ‘#GERGETAWAY’ at checkout for a discount!
Booking
Believe it or not, we booked our stay around 3 months in advance. With 2020 being what it is, taking a flight right now is just not an option for me and driving out of Texas is such a drag because it takes soooo long! If you are looking for a specific weekend to book and it is currently unavailable, make sure to reach out and get on their waitlist! They will email you if by any chance there is an availability.
Check In
Once you have made your reservation, you will receive an email with a video of the yurt you rented and a gate code. The checkin process was seamless and contactless, we just sent a text as soon as we reached the Becca Ger. We were given clear instructions to get to the Becca Ger and there was a parking spot right outside the yurt!
Amenities
The Becca Ger is equipped with your own private amenities for 2 people. Here is what we had access to:
- Outdoor kitchen with sink, utensils, grill and fridge
- Private bathroom and outdoor shower (a sliding door for privacy)
- Rooftop deck with a beautiful view and hammock (perfect for your morning coffee)
- Hot tub that can also be used as a plunge pool on hot Texas days
- A fire pit for s’mores (that I took multiple advantages of LOL!)
- Wifi (I had no issues with connectivity)
- Outdoor TV with Roku
Our Experience
All in all, the weekend was uh-mazing. Texas had a little cold front which allowed me to wear some cozy warm clothes and take advantage of the peace and quiet time to ourselves. One night it rained but we were well protected in our little yurt. Oh! We also had a little visitor aka the raccoon bandit that opened our fridge and ate our food! Nature is wild LOL! If you are in Texas and looking for a getaway, Yurtopia is the place to go!
