Hi friends – Happy Friday!! It’s finally the weekend and it’s going to be a busy one for me. My boyfriend turns 30 today and my brother turns 23 tomorrow so I’m going to be busy stuffing my face with cake! With the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale going on until the end of the month (read more about my picks here) I wanted to talk about one item in particular: the Spanx faux leather leggings . These leggings are a closet staple so I thought it would be helpful to share how I would style them! They are currently on on major sale for $65 (usually $98) and are fully in stock at the moment! These leggings are not real leather, they just have a glossy finish making it look leather-like. When it comes to the fit, I would say they run a little small. I am typically a size small/4/26 and this specific pair is flattering but also skin tight. I have to wiggle around and do a little dance to get them up haha! The high waisted band is comfortable and makes you feel extra confident! I generally get the most use out of them in the fall and winter seasons because they are just too warm for me to wear in Texas heat. Keep reading to see 12 different ways to style these leather leggings!
To be honest with you, the only time I pull these leggings out in the summer is to work out (not counting 2020 because I haven’t worked out once during this global pandemic LOL)! I’m wearing it here with the Spanx sports bra that I love but would also wear it with any of my work out tops because black goes with everything. These leggings are very flattering while keeping all the jiggle in place!
Adding a white tee with these leather-like leggings gives you an effortless look. I like to wear a plaid shirt over a white tee to run errands. Quick tip – if you are ever wearing leggings and your shirt is too short or cropped like below, you can tie a shirt or jacket around your waist to distract from camel toes!! 😉
Oversized Tee and Denim Jacket
I like to wear shirts and blouses that cover my front and butt if I wear these leggings when I’m not working out. This outfit below screams airport to me. These faux leather leggings makes you look put together without even trying!
I don’t wear leggings to work, but if I did this would be my go to outfit. Throwing a sweater over a button down shirt gives you a smart classy look.
Longline Vest or Oversized Cardigan
Longline vests or oversized cardigans look great with these faux leather leggings. The shiny overlay of the leggings can dress up any casual outfit just a little!
I think the most common piece of clothing I wear these leggings with are large comfy sweaters! I’m wearing this chunk sweater with some flat over the knew boots and it’s my go to lazy winter outfit .
Off The Shoulder Sweater
Ahhh I love off the shoulder sweaters! They are great for the winter season when you want to dress up but are lazy like me. I’m wearing them here with these leather leggings and these suede over the knee boots and I’m almost positive this is my favorite look of them all!
Over the past two years I have been skiing in Utah and this is my go to uniform. These leggings kept me super warm even below 40 degrees!
Gotta love a good poncho! A simple clothing item that is easy and doesn’t require much thinking (do you see a trend here.. haha)!
Faux Fur Vest
You can never go wrong with an all black look – especially in the winter! The next two looks are all black but give two totally different vibes. Below I’ve paired these leggings with a large sweater and fur vest!
I’m going to sound like a broken record but adding a staple leather jacket to any look instantly transforms it! So if you don’t have one I would definitely consider it! All I’m doing for this look is adding a leather jacket and some fun booties!
My beautiful tan peacoat doesn’t get much use in Texas but when I was traveling to New Jersey for work every week, this jacket was my best friend! I love how it looks with all black, especially these leggings!
I’ve captured just a few ways on how to style leather leggings and how I would wear them. I’m sure there are many more ways to style them. Hopefully this blog post gave you some future inspiration or MAYBE I’ve finally convinced you to get these leggings! Anywho, thank you for stopping by and reading!
