Hi my loves! I’m finally getting around to sharing all the deets from our trip to Turks and Caicos! Tbh, we did a whole lot of relaxing and I was definitely not mad about it 🙂 Below is all the info you need on our long weekend trip to Turks and Caicos. I’ve compiled all the questions people DM’d me about and kept it here as a resource for you! Don’t hesitate to leave a comment or reach out via Instagram if you have any questions!
Travel Info
Here’s the thing – T&C has been on my travel list for yearssssss and I swear every time I looked for tickets, the results pulled up flights that were 21+ hours lol! So when I realized that a direct flight to T&C was only 3.5 hours from Houston I was MIND BLOWN. The fact that the bluest waters I have EVER seen was that close to me this whole time – I can’t believe I didn’t look for direct flights sooner!
There were still COVID precautions we had to take and had to make sure everything was submitted 48 hours prior to boarding. This included:
- A Negative COVID test 5 days before your flight
- Insurance that covers any COVID related costs
- Travel Authorization certificate – very easy to get!
- Online health screening questionnaire
We flew United and the process was seamless and all documentation could be uploaded easily on to the app!
Masks are required when you travel, in the airport and inside most taxis but not required in restaurants and establishments (this is as of July 2021 and is subject to change). Once you come out of the airport, you can easily catch a taxi to your hotel/air bnb.
Accommodation
Turks and Caicos has lots of options when it comes to hotels and air bnb’s. We stayed at the Wymara Resort and it was A DREAM. The hotel, the service, the rooms, the views.. everything was perfect for a quick trip to paradise! The Wymara does rapid COVID testing on premise which was a perk when it came time to check in for our flight home.
The Wymara rooms were luxurious and spacious and each day, we were surprised with new treats – macaroons, brownies etc which is a plus in my book haha!
The Beach
The private beach access was steps away from the hotel. We rented a cabana for $150 for the day and spent the day on the beach! Now let’s talk about the actual BEACH. Y’all – I have been to my fair share of beaches and this is by far one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The clear vibrant blue waters and white sands are straight from a computer wall paper. Since we went in July, the week leading up to our trip the forecast showed rain but we had no rain during our trip. We were also told that when it rains, it rains for a few minutes and then stops. It was a little windy when we went, and the day we were leaving we took a walk on the beach and the sand flying at our body was a little harsh LOL but besides that, the water was cool, the sand wasn’t unbearably hot – the beach was absolutely perfect.
Activities
Our long weekend trip to Turks and Caicos lasted 4 days – and the sole purpose of this trip was to relax. We mainly stayed in Grace Bay and didn’t get to explore any of the other beautiful areas (which basically means we are going back 😉 ). The Wymara is located in Grace Bay which is one of the main areas with the prettiest beaches. We were able to do two activities during our stay, both of which lasted a few hours and were easily accessible from our resort.
Provo Ponies
The one thing I HAD to do on this trip was horseback riding in the water – it was one of the main activities that made me pin photos of T& C years ago! I’ve only been horseback riding once before this and I remember it being pretty scary. I was surprised by the horses at Provo Ponies – they were calm and I felt so much more at ease during our private tour than the last time I went in a forest lol! Provo Ponies is minutes away from Grace Bay by taxi. Make sure to book your spot ahead of time – if not, try giving them a call for availability!
Once we got to the location, and got paired with our horses, our tour guide went over some basic instructions and then we were off. You ride your horses on a few side roads that take you directly to the beach. The horses LOVE the water and you know this once they start making sounds the moment the get in lol!
Half Day Cruise to Half Moon Bay
Dream Tours Half Day Cruise to Half Moon Bay allows you to relax and just go with the flow. Lunch, snacks and lots of rum punch is provided. The staff is A LOT of fun and you get to mingle with people from all over. Keep in mind this tour is family friendly! The tour stops at one spot for you to snorkel for an hour! They then dock you at Half Moon Bay and allow you to explore and hang out in the water for a good while. I was able to see a starfish – something I’ve always wanted to see!
Food
Turks and Caicos food spots are popping and there are SO many places to try. Anyone who’s been will tell you that a few days on the islands is not enough – and it’s definitely not! Apart from eating at the resort, here are the other places we were able to check out:
- Da Conch Shack – a must go!
- Mr Groupers – Absolutely delicious island cuisine
- Keeyan surprised me with a beachfront dinner at the Wymara – the views were gorgeous with tiki lights and the sound of the ocean!
- Dinner at the Seven – make sure to check out the deck for drinks before/after your meal!
Besides these two activities, endless walks on the beach and dips in the pool – our 4 day long weekend trip to Turks and Caicos was nothing short of relaxing and I cannot wait to go again!
