Hi loves! Two weeks ago I took a quick weekend trip to visit my best friend who is preggo in Chicago! Things have been a little hectic since so I’m finally getting to sharing the deets of my quick trip! I had a bunch of questions around places and outfit details so I figured keeping them here all in one place will be the easiest, so here ya go! I’ve been to Chicago for work many times but was finally able to do things during the day! Most activities were outdoors and preggo/COVID friendly!
Day 1
Cherise Rooftop
Located at the Virgin Hotel, the Cherise Rooftop views are worth the hype. We were able to catch the sunset and it was magical! I will say that the food options weren’t the greatest, you are definitely paying for the views but the drinks were delicious! This rooftop lounge would also be a fun way to spend the day!
Day 2
Pizza Portifino
Delicious pizza with even better views. Sit along the river, people watch and sip on aperol spritz what better way to spend a Saturday!
Sunset Cruise
Later that day we took a sunset cruise out to Lake Michigan to witness the beautiful skyline! If you aren’t much for guided tours, this tour is perfect for you! The guide doesn’t do much talking and allows you to soak in the views! Make sure to take a jacket depending on the seasons as it can get windy on the river!
Day 3
Brunch at Beatnik On The River
Brunchin’ at the Beatnik is a must! Be warned that there are different locations and to make rezzy’s on the river! We made that mistake but ended up trying our luck which worked out for us! Food and drinks were delicious, views and vibe were even better!
Photoshoot Locations
I was also able to squeeze a quick photoshoot in while I was in Chicago! I had some content due and so I figured why not! I found Chantelle on Instagram and she was awesome to work with! We met early morning outside the Wrigley Building! Here are some of the shots along with outfit details! As you can tell, I wore the same outfits a different way during the day to give me more comfort. My travel sneakers are always my go to, you can read more about them here!
The Chicago Theatre Sign
The Chicago theatre was one of the first and largest lavish theaters in America. Commonly known for the big flashy Chicago sign, a great photo location. The earlier the better bc there won’t be a bunch of people in your shots! This sexy orange slip dress is from Express! I’m wearing a size XS! You can also find out how to style this dress multiple different ways here!
The Bridge near Wrigley Building
A very common photo location but I see why! You will get the city and the river all in one! I wore this stunning coord set from Storets! I have been eyeing it for a while and it kept me warm and comfortable! The large houndstooth print, pearl detail and lavender color are all things I love! Comes in 3 colors and is true to size – I’m wearing a small! You also get both pieces of this set for one price #FTW!
I was also able to shoot some desi clothes while I was freezing my Texas butt off! This classic minimalistic set is from a recent partnership with The Saree Room. Love the simplicity and elegance of a classic lehenga and one shoulder blouse! Don’t mind my shoes, I didn’t have space in my carry on for more;) All of their pieces are great for mixing and matching and you will be able to wear them multiple ways! These photos were also taken near the Wrigley building by the bridge and outside of the gold Ghirardelli doors.
Sky Scrapers
And lastly any part of the river is perfect for scenic and city shots! I’m wearing this set from Vici in a recent collaboration. Obsessed with the bright color and quality! Love a good slit and this midi skirt is super flattering and the top can be worn on or off the shoulder! I’m wearing a size Medium but should have sized down! Both earrings ands shoes are also from Vici!
