Hey y’all how’s it going?! I took a break from the blog last week – can you believe it’s been 2 months since I started blogging?! I still can’t believe I FINALLY did it after years and years of being told to haha! I’m ever so grateful to YOU for stopping by and reading, always! Today I wanted to share a fun activity in Houston that is PERFECT while we continue to social distance. Two weeks ago I shared what I did to make my boyfriends 30th birthday extra special during these pandemic times (read more here) including a 2 hour ride with his boys on a 3-wheeled automatic scooter! Since I so *selflessly* made this exclusive to the boys, I was finally able to take one of these scooters out for a ride after work and it was genuinely the most fun I’ve had in 6 months! Keep reading below for everything you need to know about Eado Big Boy Toy Rentals including a discount code!

How It Works
Eado Big Boy Toy Rentals is owned by this super chill guy, Chad, a local Houston Entrepreneur who also owns a food truck called Farmer’s Fresh that I can’t wait to check out. They offer 2-wheel scooters and 3-wheel automatic trike scooter rentals and charge by the hour. After each hour, the price per hour decreases. You also have the option to rent out the scooters from open til close allowing you to really explore Houston which means you could stop and even get some brunch if you wanted! Eado Big Boy Toy Rentals also offers a Guided Tour option which is great for people who are new to Houston. At this time, there are 10 3-wheeled scooters available for rent – just make sure to book in advance if you want to rent that many scooters out. You must be 18 or older to rent out a scooter with a valid drivers license!
I was finally able to take a 3-wheeled scooter out for 2 hours and drive through Eado, Downtown, & Midtown! I went around 6pm during Houston’s summer (which can be extreme) but honestly didn’t feel the heat since I was constantly moving and there was a good breeze. Make sure to take a small backpack for water, sunglasses, hats, hand sanitizer etc because there is no place on the scooter to keep your things.
What You Need To Do
Once you have made the reservation online, an email will be sent that provides you with all the information that you need prior to arrival. In that email you will find a youtube instructional video that you must watch. On the day of make sure to arrive 30 minutes ahead of time to fill out a waiver and practice how to use the scooters before you are out on the busy streets! Don’t forget to keep your drivers license on you!
I would note that it is important to map out your route before hand. It is easy to get lost in a big city, especially if you are not familiar with it, and mapping your route ahead of time will allow more time to enjoy your ride as opposed to staring at Google Maps trying to figure out where you are. This also allows you to make sure that you are back on time so that you do not disrupt the schedule and delay any other bookings after you!
My Experience
During the practice session, I learned how to operate the scooter. The brakes are similar to a road bike and the throttle is similar to a jet ski. We practiced how to brake and took a quick ride around the block to make sure I was comfortable and ready to go. I will say, as with many things, it takes me a little longer to get comfortable with something new. I think at first I was driving around 12 mph and continuously kept braking LOL. On the way back I hit 30 mph (highest speed is around 35mph) and was SO proud of myself haha!
The 2 hour rental time flew by and it was a good sign as to how much fun I was having! Eado Big Boy Toy Rentals is right next to Graffiti Park and a 10 minute ride away from Sabine Street, which is where I took these pictures!
Also did I mention, that some of the scooters rep Houston sports teams?! My scooter had the Houston Rockets logo on it which was so cool!
All in all, my experience with Eado Big Boy Toy Rentals was great! They are open throughout the year but during these times where we need to remain socially distant while having fun, this is one of THE BEST quarantine activities in Houston. Not to mention it would be great for a fun Labor Day weekend activity (if spots are available). This activity is great for groups of friends (10 or less), date night and even if you want to take a solo ride and let the breeze run through your hair 😉
